Jama has been interacting with clay and lighting for 9 years so far. First as ceramics she bought then made art with. Setting up lighting installations to create the ideas for her ceramic lamps and one hybrid art lamp. Also setting up fabric installations as substitutes of lampshades. Then to a hiatus to focus on her fine art. Then sew lampshades from fabric and ceramic studies then making one lighting piece.
Jama’s Ceramic lamps are intricate and therefore labour intensive. Each lamp takes several weeks to make. Designs are sketched and prototyped. It is then built up through a coil technique. Then dried, sanded ,ready for glazing and firing.
